Sansevieria - reproduction

Multiplying Sansevieria can be in several ways: side shoots, leaf and separation of the rhizome. The ideal time for this procedure is the end of spring and summer.

The variegated varieties of sansevieria are not propagated by leaf cuttings, because with this reproduction, striae will not persist.

The easiest way to reproduce is by the side shoots: we separate the shoot and transplant it into a separate pot. For rapid development and growth, the pot must be tight.

To multiply Sansevieria by dividing rhizomes, it is necessary to prepare a very sharp knife. They divide the root so that each part has a growth point and at least a small rosette of leaves. Place the section sprinkled with coal and transplant each divided bush into a separate pot with a sandy substrate. After transplantation, it is necessary to limit watering. After the pieces take root, several new shoots and leaves are formed from them.

For leaf propagation, the leaf should be cut into pieces of about 6 cm, then dry the sections in the open air. Then one of the sections must be processed with "Kornevin" and deepened by 2 cm in a moist mixture of peat and sand. Make sure that there is no strong moisture, it can lead to rot. Put the seedlings in a bright warm place. After rooting, after 8 weeks, young shoots begin to grow.

Sansevieria cylindrical - reproduction

This plant has leaves up to two meters, dark green, cylindrical in shape. At the end of the leaf is a small spine, formed from the drying of the tip. Inflorescences are white, with pinkish tips.

Multiply cylindrical Sansevieria can be duplicated in three ways, described by us earlier.

Sansevieria three-lane - reproduction

"Snake skin" for Americans, "lily leopard" for the English, "mother tongue" for Russians - these all names refer to the same plant - this is sansevieria three-way. Very hardy flower, which received the nickname "ineradicable". It grows in the shade and in the sun, it perfectly tolerates drafts and not frequent watering. Most often it is multiplied by dividing rhizomes.
