Power of attorney for a child abroad

When is a power of attorney required for a minor child?

The power of attorney for the child, and correctly consent to export, is called a notarized document presented to the customs services when leaving the country. However, the laws of countries where you are going on a trip with a child may require entry on the document. This is, as a rule, the countries of the Schengen visa, some CIS countries (Moldova, Belarus, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan). In Egypt and Turkey, the power of attorney from the second parent will not be required. Legislation of Ukraine requires a second parent a power of attorney to transport the child, if both of them - the child and the parent - are citizens of Ukraine. A power of attorney is not needed in the event of the death of the parent or the deprivation of his parental rights, as well as to single mothers.

How to issue a power of attorney for a child?

To obtain consent for exportation to one parent or both, contact the notary office. It is necessary to take with you the originals of documents for a power of attorney for the child: the birth certificate of the child and the passport (or both passports). The document will indicate that the second parent (or both) have nothing against the offspring's trip abroad. In the agreement on export, the route and purpose of the trip will be indicated. As a rule, the validity period of a power of attorney for a child is three months.
