How to use the scanner?

Not only work in the office involves the ability to use various devices connected to the computer. These include a printer , a scanner, an MFP, and so on. These skills are necessary in the everyday life of any mom, as they very often help to do homework with the child or get the necessary drawing or text from the book.

But, even if you have a computer and a scanner, it does not mean that you can work with them right away. Of course, when buying with this office equipment, you will receive instructions for working with the scanner. But a person who has no experience of operating such devices will find it difficult to master it independently. Therefore, for those who doubt their abilities, in this article we will highlight how to correctly use the scanner.

First of all, you need to figure out how to turn it on and set it to work.

How to connect the scanner to the computer?

It is quite natural that it must be connected to both the power supply network and the computer. After all, the scanner reads a two-dimensional image and presents it in electronic form, so to see the result, you need a PC monitor.

To connect the scanner to the computer, its USB port is inserted into one of the slots on the back of the power supply. After that, turn on the connected devices and proceed to install the drivers. To do this, just insert the installation disk and follow the prompts that appear. If you installed everything correctly, then your "smart" machine will see a new device. You can understand this by having an icon with a scanner image on the taskbar.

Proceeding from the fact that you need a scanner, you also need to install the programs on your computer, through which you will work with it: scan and recognize text - ABBYY FineReader, with pictures - Adobe Photoshop or XnView. Typically, programs that have the scan function are available on the driver disk to the device.

Working with the scanner

Let's start scanning.

  1. We lift the lid and put the paper carrier on the glass with the figure (text) down.
  2. Run the program for scanning or press the button on the machine itself.
  3. With the help of lines, we edit the size of the preliminary image that appeared on the screen of your computer. You can also change its resolution (the more, the clearer the result) and the color gamut, or even make it black and white.
  4. In the open window of the program, we press the "scan" button, there is another "start" or "accept", and wait until the beam of the scanner passes in one direction and back. The larger the original pattern and the higher the resolution, the slower the reading head moves. Therefore, have patience.
  5. When the already digitized version of your paper original is displayed on the screen, it should be saved. To do this, select "File", and in the window that opens, click "Save As". We call the file with the scan result as we need and select the folder where it should be saved.

When using the ABBYY FineReader program to digitize the document, it is enough to press "Scan & Read" and all steps will be performed automatically.

Precautions when working with the scanner

Since the surface on which the paper original is put, glass, then it should be handled very carefully:

  1. Do not press hard. Even if you need to scan a spread of a book that does not fit snugly to the surface of the device.
  2. Do not allow scratches or stains. They will reduce the quality of the resulting image. To avoid this, do not put dirty papers on the glass. And if it still happened, then when cleaning the surface you can not use powdered products.
