Clown costume with your own hands

A strange eccentric in a colorful suit, with a red nose and huge boots is undoubtedly the main circus favorite of all generations. Therefore it is not surprising, if your child for the coming New Year's matinee wished for the clown's suit. However, if you want the holiday really remembered the kid - you'll have to work hard and create a New Year clown costume for your child yourself. In addition, it is worth noting that the secret of creating a clown costume with their own hands can be hidden not only in patterns that are understood only by experienced craftsmen, but also in your fantasy and desire to create something really fun, bright and unusual.

In this article we will show you how to make an unusual clown costume for a girl.

How to sew a clown costume?

The clown costume, which we propose you to make with your own hands, consists of a tulle skirt, a skirt-pack of fabric, a collar, wristbands and a cap on your head.

So, to create a carnival costume, the clown will need:

Skirts-tutu:

  1. From tulle and colored fabric, we cut into 40-60 stripes, the approximate length of which is 50 cm, and the width is 15 cm. We measure the waist circumference of the child, cut off the necessary length of the gum and sew its ends.
  2. Take the strip of tulle, push one of its end under the elastic and fix the tulle on the middle of its length with a pin. Do the same with the rest of the tulle, fixing the stripes tightly to each other alternating colors.
  3. After the elastic band is completely filled, the tulle must be sewn. For this, we lay the machine line right under the belt of the skirt. The fancy tutu is ready. We take out the pins and put the skirt aside for now.
  4. Also, like a tulle skirt, we form a pack of cuts of multi-colored fabric and also sew under the belt. The tulip is worn under the fabric, which makes it more luxurious.

Collar:

  1. From the tulle of a pale yellow color, we cut 30 stripes, 30 cm x 15 cm in size. Then we take one strip of tulle, add it in half and tie it on a satin ribbon in a knot-loop. Thus, we form a collar of the required size, but do not tie the ends of the tape. Using glue-gun on the inner edge of the collar we glue the red pom-poms.

Cap for the clown suit:

  1. From the cardboard we cut the pattern for the hood in the form of a semicircle, we transfer it to the fabric, adding a couple of centimeters to the allowances, and we cut out already from the fabric. We glue the cardboard tissue pattern, turn the semicircle into a cone and glue it together.
  2. From the fabric of the same color we cut off the strip, with an approximate size of 50 cm x 8 cm. Using a glue gun, we glue the bottom of the cap, draping the fabric a little. Then cut the strip of tulle into the color of the collar and also drape over the already pasted fabric. In the end, we decorate the cap with pompons and glue the bezel, for a more convenient attachment to the head.

Wrist Cuffs:

For cuffs we need two pieces of cloth of different colors and dimensions of 50 cm x 15 cm and 50 cm x 8 cm. We fold the two strips together, slightly draping, and fix them with pins. Of course, for tiny children's wrists this is too large a cuff, so we cut the strip into two identical parts. In the middle of each of the cuffs we lay the machine line and, having folded the cuffs in half, glue the satin ribbon along the seam.

To complete the image, you only need to pick up a light shirt, bright leggings and appropriate shoes for the child.

With your own hands, you can make other costumes, for example, a pirate and an Indian .
