Bamia - growing from seeds

Bamia is both a beautiful and useful plant, so it can often be found on garden plots. But since this is a very thermophilic plant, it can be grown only in areas with a warm and temperate climate, or in heated hothouses.

In this article, we will describe how the process of growing okra grows from seeds, which is especially necessary to pay attention.

How to grow okra?

To begin with, you should grow seedlings. To do this, at the end of April, its seeds are sown in special peat-and-peat pots from 20 to 30 cm high. For planting, it is necessary to prepare a light substratum, mixing the fertile soil with humus and mineral fertilizers. It is also recommended to dress seeds in a solution of any fungicide for 20-30 minutes.

In each container we stick seeds for 3-4 cm and water. In order for them to sprout, the room should be no lower than + 22 ° C in the daytime and + 15 ° C at night. Watering during this period is required infrequent (1 time in 5 days), but without drying the soil. The first shoots should appear in 10-14 days. After that, they must be watered with any phosphorus fertilizer .

Landing in the open ground is carried out in the first half of June or after the soil warms up well. Bamia does not like to be densely planted. Optimal for it is the distance between the bushes 35-40 cm, and between the rows - 50 cm. It is not necessary to pull out of the peat-perforating containers, since its root of the rod and side branches is very small.

When growing okra from seeds under the conditions of a greenhouse, you should closely monitor the temperature inside it. Do not overheat in it (temperatures above + 30 ° C) and stagnant air, so it must be regularly ventilated.

Sowing seeds of okra directly into the open ground is possible only in hot climate conditions. To do this, they are buried 3-5 cm into the soil, watered and fed with phosphorus fertilizer.

With properly organized care and suitable weather, okra begins to bloom and bear fruit in 2-2.5 months from the time of landing.
