Installation of baguettes on the ceiling requires some skill, but everyone can overcome this science. If the walls in the house are relatively flat, you can manage yourself, but for rooms with very large differences it is better to hire a specialist.

Decoration of the ceiling with a baguette

To begin with, we will dwell a little on how to properly choose the baguettes for the ceiling. Conditionally, it is possible to divide all the models into two types: some are designed for stretch ceilings, others serve as a decor.

The first option can be hidden or decorative. Hidden type is more durable and flexible, allows you to perform any shape of the ceiling. Visible models are made of PVC and they play the role of a decorative element.

For other ceilings, the choice of plinth is not less wide. There are models from plastic, polyurethane, wood. Due to new technologies it is possible to select any coating, most similar to natural materials.

How to fix the baguettes to the ceiling?

There are several ways of mounting the baguette under the ceiling. Most often choose polyurethane plinths . There are two ways: fix the skirting board directly to the wallpaper or to the bare wall. Mounting on a layer of wallpaper is only permissible if the walls and ceiling are flat. If there are small crevices, the plinth can be fixed with a special glue. But there is a great chance to stain the wallpaper, so it is preferable to mount the skirting boards before wall gluing. For decorating the ceiling with baguettes, several different techniques can be used. Everything depends on the skill of the master and the quality of the ceiling with the walls.

  1. First, let's look at how to glue the baguettes to the ceiling. To do this, use a special mounting glue. It is applied directly to those parts of the baseboard that will be in contact with the wall and ceiling. Immediately after application, the construction is pressed against the wall and held for a while. For convenience, the skirting board is fastened with nails or pins for a while. After the glue is seized, the temporary fasteners are removed and covered with puttying punctures and joints. Before gluing the next baguette on the ceiling, the joints are also coated with glue. In the end, everything is worked up with a fine sandpaper and gives the surface a complete look.
  2. Now consider how to fix the baguettes to the ceiling with a putty. A layer of putty is applied to the entire inner surface of the plinth. When installing the baguette is pressed in place of the "ceiling-wall" and remove the excess putty. If a gap has formed between the wall and the baguette, it can be sealed with putty. In some cases, for greater reliability, PVA glue is added to the filler solution, but not more than 20% of the total weight of the whole mass.
  3. Installation of baguettes for the ceiling, when the walls are very uneven, has its own characteristics. To do this, use gypsum putty, level the lower edge, pre-beat the line. The line is beaten with a thin cord or strong thread. To level out a little squeezed excess surfacer in the direction of the ceiling or wall and a spatula make a smooth cut. To ensure that everything turned out neat and the transitions were smooth, you need to select wide skirting boards. After complete drying, it is necessary to work the surface with a sandpaper and paint all with white water-based emulsion.
  4. Baguette for fabric ceilings has a special design. It is made of durable plastic. The design provides a snap-in clip, which holds the blade. The design is attached directly to the wall or ceiling. Holes for fastenings are done at a distance of 10 cm, then insert dowels, attach a baguette and fix all the screws.
