Depending on what kind of fabric used for Roman curtains, they can be sewn with or without lining. In our case, the fabric is rather dense, so we will not make the lining.

How to sew Roman blinds yourself?

  1. Before we need to measure the window opening. In this case, add 10 cm to the width of the side seams, add 5 cm to the length for the lower hem, 2 cm for the top, and 20 cm for attaching to the wooden bar. Below, we leave a double bend for threading the bar - 5 cm. Using the diagram, we determined that we need a piece of fabric 100 x 145 cm.
  2. Further, using the table, we calculate the number and size of folds we need. Given the length of the curtains - 145 cm, we will get 6 folds in length - 24.1 cm.
  3. Lay out the fabric for our Roman curtains flat surface, down the front side. Press 2cm edges around the edges, turn the corners.
  4. We mark the lines of folds and the places where the rings are sewn according to the scheme given. It is important to note all this at the same distance, so that the curtains beautifully draped. The distance between the bends is 20-30 cm.
  5. We beat in small carnations, to the wooden bar one part of the tape - velcro, (always fluffy).
  6. The upper edge of the curtain is also processed and sewed to it a tape - Velcro. Then we can remove the curtain for washing, when needed.
  7. Sew the rings according to the marks.
  8. From the wrong side along the marked lines, bend the fabric by 4 cm.
  9. Stitch the halves of the fabric, so that the "pockets" for the rails are obtained.

We fasten the Roman curtains to the window

  1. In the beginning, the wooden strip with Velcro is nailed to the window frame.
  2. Curtains catch on the bar with a sewn velcro tape.
  3. In the same place we nail the fasteners for the cord.
  4. Then pass the cord into the rings. You need to start from the bottom edge, on each lower ring we make a knot.
  5. Having reached the top rings, we deduce all three cords through fasteners on a lath.
  6. Align the tension of the cords and bind them together.
  7. We put the reiki in the resulting "pockets".
