Passive antenna models have the property of amplifying the television signal due to its geometry, that is, the design. They do not need to be connected to the network and equipped with additional amplifiers. The main advantage of such devices is the absence of additional interference.

However, not always a passive antenna can cope with its task. Sometimes its power is just not enough for a high-quality signal reception - in these cases, active indoor tv antennas are used. They are equipped with an electronic amplifier, so they are more sensitive. Such an amplifier can be mounted directly into the antenna housing, but can go separately. Such devices can be banded (i.e., capable of receiving either MW or DMW waves) and all-wave devices that receive both types of signals. The latter in our time are the most popular, they are much more convenient, because different TV channels broadcast in different bands. By purchasing such an antenna, you can increase the number of channels viewed almost twice. But despite this, if you have plans use of a room antenna for digital TV only, then you will save considerably by purchasing a model that receives only the DMB signal (this band is used in digital broadcasting).
