Laying tiles on a wooden floor

Before you begin laying the tiles on the wooden floor, you should conduct a revision of it, that is, determine what the condition of the wooden floor is, whether there is an old paint on it, whether it is level or not.

Preparing a wooden floor for tiling

Preparing a wooden floor in the house before laying ceramic tiles on it is a very important and time-consuming task. Old floors, most likely, were covered with several layers of paint and varnish. There are several ways to remove an old paint from a tree :

• thermal: with the help of a construction hair dryer, the floor surface heats up, the paint on it softens and then it can be scraped off with a spatula;
• chemical: the floor is wiped off with a special flush that removes the old paint;
• mechanical: the old paint is removed with a sandpaper or a metal brush.

Then, with the help of putty, all cracks and crevices in the floor should be fixed. If the surface is not very flat, there are small differences, then they can be flattened by a plane. Well, if the floor is very uneven, cover it with a layer of ten-millimeter plywood.

The ground and leveled floors are sanded, and then covered with varnish or latex impregnation. On still not dried linseed lies a molar net to create a solid monolithic layer.

After the drying oil has dried well, a metal reinforcing mesh is laid on the floor, which is fixed to the base with screws. Then this grid is treated with a solution consisting of 2 parts of liquid glass, 1 part of water and 2 parts of sand.

Laying tiles on a wooden floor surface

Before starting work, the tiles must be soaked in water for 10-15 minutes. On a wooden, ideally leveled base, tiling is done with cement mortar or special glue. Do not do a lot of a solution, since it is suitable for work only for two hours. The first tile is glued in the center of the room. And from it lay out the rest of the tiles. First glue or mortar smears the tiles, then - the floor area for several tiles, and only then the tile is applied to the floor. Constantly check the parallelism of the sides of the tile to the corresponding walls and the horizontality of the glued floor. To seal the places near the walls, the tile will have to be cut to pieces using a tile cutter, a glass cutter or a Bulgarian.

Carefully preparing the wooden floor and gently sticking a tile on it, you will get an excellent floor covering, which completely changes the interior design in the room.
