French Connection

French Connection is a British brand, which in 1969 was founded by Stefan Marx. Initially, the brainchild of the entrepreneur was a modest store, where you could buy women's dresses. Their Stefan Marx sewed to order. However, business developed at a very slow pace, so he decided to expand the range to attract and men. In 1972 there was a debut collection of men's clothing under the trademark of French Connection. Despite the democratic price, it was different from the fashion of the time, so it was sold very quickly. Success inspired Stefan Marx to create clothes for women and children for all occasions. It is worth noting that the French Connection children's clothing differed from the adult only in size. For its tailoring, the designer used the same materials and patterns.

Fashion provocation

Six years later, Stefan Marx invited to his company a talented designer Nicole Fari, who had previously worked with Italian and French companies. She became the chief designer of the French Connection brand. But production because of the decline in purchasing power has ceased to be in demand, which put the company on the verge of bankruptcy. Ten years of trying to reanimate the trademark nevertheless succeeded. Already in the early nineties, the French Connection brand was again in the lead in the British fashion industry. Rebranding and a very ambiguous advertising campaign, which was characterized by aggressiveness, helped in this. The French Connection company was renamed to fcuk. For this simple, at first glance, abbreviation (French Connection United Kingdom), which was written in lowercase letters, many saw a word that falls under the censorship. All would be nothing, but in the advertising campaign this was a juicy accent. Of course, this could not be left without attention. The people of London complained massively about the blatant rudeness that fell upon them from huge billboards. While the proceedings continued, fashion clothing, shoes, bags and perfumes French Connection flew away like hot cakes!

Scandalous advertising has done its work. The company's revenues have become fabulous. Mods and women of fashion were waiting in queues to purchase a dress, shoes or a French Connection t-shirt with a scandalous abbreviation. Today, the British brand owns a wide variety of licenses that allow you to produce not only clothing, accessories, footwear and perfumes, but also alcoholic beverages, and even condoms.

I got a French Connection company and my own radio station. But in 2006 the brand with another provocative advertising campaign about two girls of non-traditional sexual orientation again found itself in the epicenter of the scandal. Obviously, the topic fcuk has exhausted itself. Today, the clothes of a British company go under the original name of French Connection.
